the Economy › Minimum Wage
8>8 Personal answerThe minimum wage was started to put a limit on how low to pay the young workers. In todays time, more and more single parents, senior citizens, and college students are working skilled jobs at minimum wage rates. Instead of raising minimum wage, we should reclassify what a minimum wage job is. Furthermore, we should establish minimum wage rates for different age groups, and have a tier system that classifies each job in tiers. Each tier's minimum rage should go up to the last tiers highest wage. Having 3-4 tiers in each age group would reduce the number of people at or under the poverty line, it will create better workers, and allow for less turn over. It will also reduce the number of unemployed workers. Jobs such as fast food, retail, gas station attendants etc, would be worked mainly by high school and college students, leaving more skilled jobs for working adults. |
Domestic Policy › Armed Teachers
8>8 Personal answerNo |
the Environment › Climate Change
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Taxes
8>8 Personal answerNo! First, cut wasteful governmental spending, and then change the system to a VAT system. There should be some bright enough minds available to construct a system that is fair to all. But bottom line, from all who have been blessed with good fortune, somewhat more should be required, but definitely no 'soak the rich' should be in order. |
Social › Racial Sensitivity Training
8>8 Personal answerno, "racial sensitivity training" hasn't proven to be very effective, it just causes the discriminatory person to rely on alternative micro-aggressions and play the victim for having to learn to treat others with genuine respect. this is more a mental health/empathy training kind of problem. political correctness doesn't apply well here because it does not encourage self-awareness. |

the Environment › Alaska Wildlife Refuge
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Social › Safe Spaces
8>8 Personal answerThere are some people who have legitimate mental conditions such as PTSD who are triggered and go into extreme emotional or mental states that they cannot control when they hear certain words and sounds, and for this reason they need special treatment from the school. You don't get to decide whether a mental condition is "legitimate" or not. That being said, these should not be provided to non-mentally-disabled students just to shield them from opposing opinions and viewpoints. If you are familiar with the issue, and have first-hand experience with it, chances are you are correct and should not be worried about hearing people who disagree. They are likely wrong and ignorant in that case, and just making an ass of themselves publicly. |

8>8 Personal answerThe Paris Agreement is not effective to curb climate change and is rather a way for countries to give the illusion of action to their people. Treat global warming as an urgent national security issue, solve it, and then let a thousand economic flowers bloom. In any case, feckless accords of this nature are not ideal but as it is non-binding, I don't really care. |
