This notion that gay marriage is a violation against God is BULL **** !!! I self identify as a Republican, but on the issue of abortion and gay marriage, I am abortion and LGBT friendly. If the Republicans changed their views on social issues, then the Democratic Party will be the party of the past. This is a free country, and these issues must fall into that meaning.

@sterdizAmerican Solidarity  from Utah commented…2yrs

No, marriage should be defined as between a man and woman

If someone believes that marriage is a violation against God's will, you should respect their belief.

@9RZ5SDJWomen’s Equality from New Jersey commented…1yr

Yes but you should respect our beliefs too.

And I'm sure your god believes all life is equal...etc

I believe you are wrong and that I should marry whom ever I please

@9TDCHG7Constitution from Kansas disagreed…1yr

No

You are not a christian if you support abortion and the LGBT community.

@9TMLDZ8Socialist from North Carolina commented…1yr

Yes

honey I thought Jesus loves everyone including the lgbt community. even if he didn't, isn't the one rule that trumps them all "love thy neighbor"?

@9XV7P96Republican from Utah commented…8mos

He says to love them, but anywhere in the bible does it say that women can be with women and men with men? If so I am wrong. Find those verses.

@5V5JGNBGreenfrom Colorado  answered…2yrs

Yes, sex is not binary. If you don't want to marry a person of the same gender you are, then don't. Religion is a male control mechanism...men are culturally conditioned to be oversexed and violent and consider women existing for to satisfy those appetites.

@65MBHGZDemocratfrom Maine  answered…2yrs

Ban LGBT propaganda and no recognition for same sex relationships.

@63SLCRBRepublicanfrom Indiana  answered…2yrs

Yes, same-sex marriage in no way causes any literal harm to anybody, so I cannot in good will stand there and deny two people their true love like a strict parent not letting their child choose which flavor ice-cream that they would rather have, or forcing them to eat topings which they don't like on a hamburger.

@rpaul888Socialistfrom New York  answered…2yrs

How dare anyone preclude love from manifesting in any form? An elephant loves her child? A man loves a man. A woman loves a woman. So what. Again, the paradigm is overly simplified. We, each of us, is a part of life. Life is an attempt to manifest our interpretation of God into life, here on earth. This is called "goodness". As I choose to be good, in each and every aspect of "my" life, then, I can increase that manifestation of goodness for my lover, mu partner, my niece, my step-brother, my passed mom & dad, a flower, the earth, the resources which provide us the essence of life: food, air, water, shelter. Any and all commitments to the act of Love shall be condoned, supported, and respected.

Gay is a mental and gene disorder so it is ok to like your own gender but do not skip around with rainbow flags in your hands

@9P7JDWBWomen’s Equality  from Oklahoma commented…2yrs

Yes

I don't think it's a disorder. How can loving someone the same gender as you be a disorder? And how can it have to do with genes? I'd like to understand your statement, would you tell me more please? And the reason people skip around with rainbow flags is because of people like you, saying it's a "disorder". The rainbow flag is a symbol of loving who you are, after so many decades of hate and erasure. The reason for the flag is to show pride in love, and refusal to allow other's opinions define love and define who you are. Does that make sense? And what does a rainbow flag hurt, anyway? Being gay is not a disorder and people should be able to skip around with pride flags because it’s who they are and it makes them happy. If you don’t like that then leave.

Marriage is a cage. Anyone who wants to marry does so at their own risk. Once again, not a political issue.

@9XV7P96Republican from Utah commented…8mos

Your comment had me feel quite sad. Is this where america is going, saying such a beautiful thing like marriage is a cage? Please explain.

@5WHDLKRRepublicanfrom New York  answered…2yrs

No, except between two women because marriage is meant to protect family, and men cannot produce their own offspring

@9P7JDWBWomen’s Equality  from Oklahoma disagreed…2yrs

except between two women

If I understand correctly, you're saying two women should be able to be married because they might have the ability to carry a child and two men wouldn't? That isn't exactly correct, the women would need a sperm donor and the men would need an egg donor. That is if they chose to have biological children. What I'm saying is there are still ways to have kids, and more to having kids-- even if it is two men married (and two women!). Besides, marriage is about love, not just having kids! People's families can just include their partner, it is their choice if they want have kids. And if they do th…  Read more

2 types of marriage: religious and civil. Civil marriage - any number of adults nay gender. Religion- whatever religion will allow you.

@658CKYPRepublicanfrom Florida  answered…2yrs

Yes, but becoming biological parent within same sex couples should not occur; only adoption should be granted.

@9P7JDWBWomen’s Equality  from Oklahoma commented…2yrs

What's wrong with biological parents of the same gender? Can you tell me more please? I don't understand why you think that.

@5TMYRJWDemocratfrom Georgia  answered…2yrs

Actually, what you have just stated is, or should be considered entirely untrue. There is a total (that I am aware of) of 7 texts in the bible that are often cited by Christians to condemn homosexuality. It is common people are unaware of this. Since the version of the bible most common is a translation from ancient Hebrew, that means intentional/accidental translation errors were made, a couple of ones being where it states homosexuality is a sin. Where it may have said that "Man shall not lay with man" It was mistakenly translated from the sentence "Man shall not lay with young boy.", referencing pedophilia, and not at all homosexuality. I hope that this made sense and that I didn't make any mistakes! (I apologize if I did, my knowledge of the bible/Christianity is not extensive).

@699BTTLConstitutionfrom Colorado  answered…2yrs

Same sex attraction is a choice not an illness your not born to be gay that's up seen. The parents are responsible for the upbringing of there children and hands down same sex marriage is not right our genetics don't support reproduction that way.

@9TMLDZ8Socialist from North Carolina commented…1yr

Yes

first of all, you cant choose your sexuality

second of all wtf is "up seen"? pretty sure you meant obscene lol

@5V5Y8HHGreenfrom Washington  answered…2yrs

No, because homosexuality is a large contributor to an unhealthy society.

@9P7JDWBWomen’s Equality  from Oklahoma asked…2yrs

How so?

What about loving someone the same gender as you makes society unhealthy? I'd like to know more about why you think that. I don't see a problem!

@5TPHZLQLibertarianfrom North Carolina  answered…2yrs

Again, this is a personal issue and not a decision to be made by government. the first amendment already clearly states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

@66NH437Republicanfrom Alabama  answered…2yrs

I don't have a problem because we are all children of God and I don't think we were put here to judge

I'm personally not religious but i do respect Christians who support the lgbt community. I'm pretty sure the bible says love everyone or some **** and then people get mad at me for being pansexual lol

Marriages have been created by man and religions for: 1. Child/parent accountability/identification from fornication. 2. additional finances. Love is love. You don't need a plaque,and some hardware to be together.

@5SWRHB9Libertarianfrom Arizona  answered…2yrs

We have larger issues for our federal government to concern them self with. I can't believe that same sex marriage is even a thought."I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."

@5ZDDWK9Greenfrom California  answered…2yrs

Yes, but trans and gender nonconforming folks should also have the right to participate in the institution of marriage as the gender they identify with.

@68LM95DRepublicanfrom New York  answered…2yrs

I don't like it because homosexuality is becoming a fad and it's declining our population.

@5SG2QYVGreenfrom Colorado  answered…2yrs

yes but call it whatever you want because marriage is a religious scam so all should be civil unions

@6B9RR29Constitutionfrom Texas  answered…2yrs

What the LGBT community needs to do is get over themselves and stop playing victim. I know people who are victimized by the LGBT community on a daily basis. I doubt anybody gives a hoot if the guy across the street is doing the other guy. You have your own church and religion that approve of your same sex marriage so you the LGBT community should stop and try to force your views and homosexuality on people who do not agree.
