the Economy › Paid Sick Leave
4>4 Personal answerI wish there was a skip, here. I believe, to an extent, that any company should offer benefits that they choose, but should also be held to a national standard of benefits that are available to all citizens. Can places of high population offer less benefits than other places? (right now) Yes, and they often do, while balancing certain lack of benefits with slightly higher pay than rivals might offer. What does this cause in the world? High turnover places of employment, terrible management for subjective locations....my answer to this is loaded with personal experience. Simple Answer: No business should be required to provide anything that is not of a national standard. That national standard should be set by a congregation of employees such as a union, with a true conscience, and should not include members of corporate boards. Some business are able to provide certain types of leave easily, and with no impact on their co-workers. Others may suffer fairly hard times if required to keep a position open for someone who may return within days, or might possible not return in weeks. Wouldn't if be great if neither an individual or his employer had to rely on keeping a person's position open because the employee had national healthcare? or might only need to hire a temp with a determined end-date, because someone had true, inalienable right to be absent for a certain period of time? |
