The Federal Reserve is the central banking system of the US government. The main goal of the bank is to manage the US government’s money supply and stabilize the nation’s banks during panics and recessions. In 2015, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2015 which would require the bank’s board of governors to conduct an audit and release it to Congress. An audit would determine if the accounting records the bank makes public are true and give Congress an insight into how the bank is run. Senator Paul has been a fierce critic of the bank’s practices, calling it a "political, oligarchic force, and a key part of what looks and functions like a banking cartel." Proponents of the audit argue that the Federal Reserve bank should be audited after the role it played in the 2008 fiscal crisis when it took on trillions in debt to bail out several of the country’s largest banks. Opponents of the audit argue that the government accountability office already audits the Federal Reserve and a Congressional audit would destroy its independence.
@ISIDEWITH7yrs
Yes, but I would prefer to abolish it and return to the gold standard
@ISIDEWITH7yrs
Yes, we deserve to know who the bank gives money to
@ISIDEWITH7yrs
No, in order to stabilize our financial system, it must remain independent of Congressional oversight
@3RVHJH42yrs
The Federal Reserve shouldn't just be audited, they should be kicked out all together. They are unconstitutional.
@946MWMTLibertarian5 days
Yes, but both Congress and the Federal Reserve should be abolished.
@9466QG27 days
Abolish the Federal Reserve and return to the silver standard.
@9463WKP1wk
No, hay que eliminar la FED
No, but more details regarding their actions must be made available to Congress.
@93VZXPD1mo
@93VNJQH1mo
We need to abolish the federal reserve
@93L8PHX2mos
@93J9LTY2mos
No, but the Federal Reserve should be dissolved
@93GN9VS2mos
Yes, we the people have the right to know why we've been in debt longer than we've been alive. There is no viably necessary reason to maintain classification on the financial system of any country.
@93GF8QD2mos
@93FNFM32mos
We deserve to know who the banks and companies give it’s money to but we also deserve to know who The Government gives it’s money to, all of it so companies and banks can only be completely audited when The Government including it’s corrupt Finnancial manipulation can be audited.
@938YMCT3mos
The Federal Reserve should be abolished, and the government should not be allowed to decide what counts as currency.
@938MYXT3mos
Yes and ablosh it and replace it with nothing
Banks should be taken control of by the state
@92T4JVD3mos
Personally if I had another cookie and the dog smelled me better then smashed the door on the ground to create santa then yes but if not no.
@92QBG6Y3mos
Yes, and then hopefully abolished
@92MMQCY4mos
Abolish it and charter a new bank of the United States
@92KZWKN4mos
The Judicial Powers in the country should interpret whether the money is being used for good or not.
@92KSQTX4mos
Abolish the Federal reserve
Yes, but I would prefer to abolish it (or severely reduce it) and replace it with natural dollars.
Yes, on an annual basis.
@92GK2Y44mos
Regardless, it should be abolished.
@929QSFD4mos
The Federal Reserve Bank should never have been created to begin with. It is a private corporation of bankers that do not represent the US. Only the US Congress has the right to coin money.
Yes, and they should be abolished.
No, they are already audited by the government accountability office, and the bank must remain independent of Congressional oversight in order to stabilize our financial system
No - Congress cannot pass a bill without pork and is a divided House.
@9222N3R5mos
i understand this question
@8ZZGKP95mos
Yes, but i would prefer to abolish it and establish a standard based on labor.
Yes, but have the audit completed by an independent non-governmental agency, with the results submitted in a report to Congress for review
Yes, but have the audit conducted by an independent, non-governmental agency with the results submitted in a documented report to Congress
Yes, but have the audit conducted by an independent, non-governmental agency, with the results submitted to Congress in a documented report for review
Yes, and abolish the Federal Reserve afterwards
No, the audit should be completed by a neutral, non-governmental agency with the results submitted in a documented report to Congress
Congress is not trust worthy either
Yes, but have the audit conducted by a non-governmental agency with the results submitted in a report to Congress
@8Z2XTXN6mos
Yes, the Federal Reserve bank and all banks should be subject to random audits by the government to ensure the system is not being misused or giving money to anyone who would do harm to people.
@8YYWZ9H6mos
I am Neutral on this subject
@8YWJQY96mos
Yes, but I would prefer to switch to a resource based economy
@8YVMXX96mos
Yes absolutely, we deserve to know who the bank gives money to but I would prefer to abolish it and return to the gold standard and I would prefer to end the legal tender laws and allow for competing currencies. A private bank should not run our currency or economy; especially without oversight.
No, it should be audited by a non-governmental agency with the results submitted in a report to Congress
Yes, and abolish it, and creat a true federal bank
@8YKDXLV7mos
No. We should leave the central banking system
@8Y5XFQL8mos
They already get audited
