Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
There are teachers that absolutely do not have the training and cannot be trusted with weapons in a…
That distinction that you obfuscated is key. No one would carry a firearm if they are not comfortable with it.
Negligent discharges just do not happen if a firearm is carried properly. A firearm (unless it is severely damaged) does not fire unless the trigger is pulled. If carried properly, the trigger cannot be pulled unless the carrier wants it to be pulled.
A teacher has the same Second Amendment rights guaranteeing their right to self-preservation as anyone else. They do not lose those rights upon entering a school building. The fact of the matter is that the current state of laws across the country that tend to ban teachers from protecting themselves at work is a blatant violation of the Second Amendment. The only reason it is allowed to stand is because of ignorant anti-gun zealots in the media and political classes who have succeeded in creating an unjustified aura of terror around firearms.
