Kids in schools generally don’t have a large rabble of people trying to hurt them, often the shooters end up being past or current students themselves. That’s the difference, we need to reduce the chances of kids getting access to guns by having heavier restrictions. The guns aren’t given to them in schools without security guards, they’re brought in on their own doorsteps.

Very true, the origins of threats in schools and in politics are indeed different. However, it's also worth considering that while politicians may be targets, they also have a level of training or access to trained professionals that isn't available to teachers. Teacher's primary roles are educating and nurturing young minds, not policing or providing armed security.
For instance, in 2018, a teacher in California accidentally fired a gun during a public safety class, injuring a student. The teacher was a reserve police officer with presumably more extensive gun safety training than most teachers would have.
So, how do you think we can better equip our teachers and schools with non-lethal tools or strategies to ensure safety, without adding the risk of accidents related to guns?
