First, the school should do everything in its power to reduce speakers or events that plan on using logical fallacies; fact-sharing with civility should be exemplified. Second, if a topic that may trigger post-traumatic stress response will be discussed by a speaker or at an event (such as the subject of rape), the school should provide trigger warnings and only allow students who have a history of related trauma to utilize a safe space and avoid the content. Otherwise, it is important for students to face opposing views, even if it makes them uncomfortable, as these experiences foster growth, understanding, empathy, civil debate, and other vital life skills.
