The "free market" will only ever do anything if it ultimately makes a profit for the private capital-owners; it has absolutely no interest, or ability, in solving homelessness because guaranteeing housing for all people is not a profitable endeavor. If we want an economy that works for the interests of the actual public, then the public itself needs to be in charge of the economy, and not living at the mercy of the personal financial incentives of private individuals seeking their own profits over all else. lol what are the fruits of a capitalist's labor? What work are they even doing that couldn't just be done by any other manager or worker? Capitalists alone neither produce nor provide ANY value to society; all a capitalist does is profit off of the labor of the workers doing the actual work and making money. The capitalist just takes what they didn't earn or work for. If capitalists only got the fruits of their own labor, then they would just be workers, not owners. But instead, they take the fruits of the workers' labor, without having to do anything. Workers make the profits, and owners take the profits. The profit is made by the workers, and the profits belong to the workers.

You are just defending legalized theft of workers' profits by those who didn't produce it. Pathetic...
