There should be significantly less funding for police departments, but not so little that departments are unable to operate and respond to criminal activity. A strong police force is important to the regulation and enforcement of the law, but an overfunded police force may posses too much control and influence over the lives of private citizens. Social services and other community programs would benefit from more funding, especially services that deal with mental health issues which can work alongside police to determine the best course of action at a crime scene.
