There should be trigger warnings before sensitive topics/discussions, but students should also know that these topics are bound to be brought up in certain courses. These topics should remain in courses and if a student has an issue with it, they should consult their professor to see if there is a way to, personally, avoid it. If a student is having extensive trouble with such topics, then it would likely be best for the student to remove themselves from the course. No mandatory courses (should) require these topics. If you are in a course that includes such discussions or are considering a field that may entail such conversations, then they might want to stop ahead.
