What is your emotional response to the idea that a single national culture should be preserved at the expense of diversity?

 @9HCMHRQ from Utah answered…5mos5MO

Diversity is much more important. Diversity can teach many more people about cultures, traditions, and different perspectives, a single culture will only lead to discrimination against anyone who prefers diversity.

 @9H9VHJR from Ohio answered…5mos5MO

Diversity should be encouraged and all cultures should be able to be shared. No government or institution should enforce a singular culture, and instead allow them all to prosper. Without diversity, there is no individuality.

 @9H9NGKQ from Ohio answered…5mos5MO

Diversity is what makes us great. But no culture, no race and no group of people should be treated better or worse. That includes immigrants and it included whites

 @9H83PC2 from Texas answered…5mos5MO

it is definitely wrong because our nation has so many different races. There are also so many different cultures and religions that people follow. It would be wrong to force the world to follow one national culture.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

How does prioritizing one race or ethnicity above others make you feel about the values of equality and diversity in society?

 @9H5KDBH from Nebraska answered…5mos5MO

we need to take better measures to make equality more prevalent because right now there is a lot of inequality

 @9H5K7RF from Minnesota answered…5mos5MO

It’s straying away from that definition and goal, we have only barely reached.

If your favorite cultural or artistic expressions were censored for national cohesion, how would that impact your sense of community and creativity?

 @9JQC5FP from Nebraska answered…3mos3MO

It would feel like my freedom of speech is being impacted.

 @9JSH92Fagreed…3mos3MO

Having more national cohesion but censoring people at the cost of it is manipulative and can cause unwanted confusion.

 @9JSDCYXDemocrat from Ohio agreed…3mos3MO

We are censoring content that does not need to be censored, and we need to let other people have their opinions, positive or negative

 @9JQD63R from Texas answered…3mos3MO

That would impact my sense of community and creativity negatively. In this case, that's a great thing. I believe that topics of Neo- fascism should be censored and communities and a sense of belonging shouldn't come out of these communities because it's divisive.

 @9JQNTP4 from Massachusetts disagreed…3mos3MO

All speech is free speech unless directly related to illegal activity. It is not illegal to be a Nazi.

 @9JQCGGS from Kansas answered…3mos3MO

I'm not sure how it would impact me or my sense of community and creativity

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

How do you think a society that celebrates one homogeneous national identity would influence your sense of personal identity?

 @9H9HFF3 from Michigan answered…5mos5MO

I would not feel as unique of an individual. People need to rather embrace and respect all differences in diversity.

 @9H7JF2CRepublican from Indiana answered…5mos5MO

I think that national identity is based out of a household rather than the entire society.

If you were asked to give up some personal freedoms for a more uniform society, exactly what freedoms would you be willing to sacrifice, if any?

 @9HZ9NCNWomen’s Equality from Georgia answered…4mos4MO

I am not willing to give up any of my constitutional rights

 @78MRXTHIndependent  from Illinois disagreed…4mos4MO

In certain exceptional circumstances, the revocation of certain constitutional personal freedoms may be justified for the greater good of society. One such example could be during a severe public health crisis, where individual freedoms might need to be temporarily restricted to prevent the spread of a highly contagious and deadly disease. However, the suspension of constitutional freedoms should always be approached with extreme caution, transparency, and accountability. Additionally, any such measures should be time-limited, proportional to the threat at hand, and subject to regular review…  Read more

What are your thoughts on the impact of a strong, singular leadership compared to a collaborative, multi-viewpoint leadership in a nation?

 @9HGZHC6 from Texas answered…5mos5MO

The effectiveness of a leadership style often depends on the ability to strike a balance. People that incorporate strong leadership with mechanisms for diverse input and checks on power can be beneficial. The impact of leadership style on a nation varies.

Reflecting on your own experiences, how does the notion of sacrificing some privacy for a perceived greater good resonate with you?

 @9JFW25Q from Kentucky answered…3mos3MO

Humans need privacy without privacy we have nothing. The government takes everything from us.

 @9JFVV2G from Oregon answered…3mos3MO

We shouldn't sacrifice people's privacy for a "perceived" greatest good.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

Does the idea of sacrificing some aspects of democracy for rapid national progress make you hopeful or uneasy?

 @9HDSNLXanswered…5mos5MO

It makes me a bit hopeful for the future and I think it will work well in the short term but in the long term it will breed heavy corruption.

How would a significant restriction on Internet use to maintain cultural norms affect your academic and social life?

 @9HWYZ4Q from Iowa answered…4mos4MO

Academically would be hard to say as I am not currently a student, however as someone who recently (about a year ago) graduated high school, I can attest that technology is an immense help when it comes to schooling. Online tools for writing and sharing documents, presentations, and general info among classmates. I know that several of the school projects I was assigned would be impossible to complete with stricter internet policies. I also still do research for projects I work on in my free time, or for more knowledge on subjects I'm interested in. A restricted internet might make resou…  Read more
