I believe that the government and commercial industry have a duty to collaboratively work with one another to ensure that the safest, cleanest, and most efficient modes of travel and industry are used to reach the stars. The government needs to ensure that planetary bodies are not exploited without regard to any naturally existing biomes and with respect to all governing entities. Space absolutely needs to be 100% de-militarized. The government alone does not have the budget to operate independently in space travel. It needs to focus on providing the astronauts and performing the science while commercial parties focus on producing the necessary vehicles and equipment.

The government should not interfere with the interests of private space exploration companies and the government should only fund their own space travel programs once they get more important issues solved first

Space exploration is a global advancement, and shouldn’t have to be stressed on private companies if it is something everyone gains knowledge of.

Government space exploration kickstarts STEM involvement in the US, setting the foundation for a future America.

 @9FRDVZT from Virginia disagreed…7mos7MO

Why would they? The government knows how important it is for us to do this. Why should we rely on private travel when we can give NASA and SPACEX the money knowing that they will be successful and bring us information and accomplishment.

 @9FLJJG3 from Maryland disagreed…7mos7MO

the government should not regulate private companies from exploring space travel, but should increase american efforts so that all possible progress is being made

The current executives of private companies have shown multiple times that they are incompetent. I would prefer to see the government handle future space exploration. The current private companies have botched enough chances to make an impact. Why would we continue to let them waste time and resources when we already have a capable initiative in NASA.

There is the need for deep space and long-term human space travel, such as to the moon that has benefits in the scientific space and develops technology for spinoff later, but is not yet profitable or in any commercial way appealing for private companies with finite investment potential. Private companies may at some point find it profitable to manage human space travel, after which NASA should fund more exotic space exploration but the need for a research organisation in space is absolutely there

 @9G9PTH3from Guam disagreed…6mos6MO

Space travel can lead to discoveries that improve the country without companies exploiting the resources

Not to mnetion companies having ownership of entire swathes of planets, or non-earth bodies could be a devastating precedent for humankind. They can't be trusted with them, and even if I think government is corrupt, I would be less hesitant for them to own land elsewhere.

We cannot know how much money is needed for a space mission, but regularly it is a heavy price that we need a global superpower to help provide for.

 @9G7S4DB from Virginia disagreed…6mos6MO

Private space flight companies should be able to work with NASA in order to achieve their goals. Space should not be dominated by any one company, but by many all working together under the same goal.

 @9GN9Z7B from Ohio disagreed…6mos6MO

Private companies can make an impact, but due to the high costs associated with spacetravel its a very gatekeeped industry and the governmemt has proven more efficent with its progress in general. We shouldnt allow a handful of corporations to control space industries.

 @9GYS85R from Idaho disagreed…5mos5MO

The government is responsible for funding these private companies, so there is bound to be some correlation between the two.

 @9G9ZJJW from Colorado disagreed…6mos6MO

With government funding, research and exploration could skyrocket and allow us to explore other planets sooner.

 @9GVV7KBProgressive from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

While there is no problem with private companies performing space exploration, they are driven by profit, while the people have at least an indirect control over NASA.

 @9GLW2WG from South Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

The government should help because as important as travel on earth is, it will soon become even more important to travel in space.

 @3ZCKX76Democratdisagreed…6mos6MO

The government has more resources at its disposal and Space Exploration is humanities best defense against extinction.

 @9GG7T3D from Kentucky disagreed…6mos6MO

We are a society based on exploration and so it is our main goal, government funding is very important for space.
