A stem cell is a specialized cell that has the potential to replace tissues damaged by disease or injury. The use of these cells has been regulated by the U.S. government due to the ethical debate surrounding the use of human embryos (fetal stem cells) in their research and development.

I agree with stem cell research but feel that strong restrictions must be placed against using cells from voluntarily aborted fetuses out of concern that fetuses could develop a "market value". Mothers should be allowed to donate their cord cells or those of miscarried babies.
