People can lie, although I'm sure the US government is well-aware of that. A country who previously had strong ties with one side of a conflict most likely should not be trusted with peace proposals, unless there is an economic reason behind it.

The UN and their attempts at peace have either been laughable, or veto'd by a country with close ties to one side of current conflicts. It is despicable, and there needs to be more accountability on the world stage.

I believe that peace proposals that come from countries with a strong tie to one side of a conflict should not be trusted to be fair and unbiased because they are coming specifically from countries with one strong tie to one side of the conflict.
