Is it possible for a country to remain completely neutral in international conflicts, and what might motivate them to claim neutrality?

This question goes a while back to when the U.S. didn't want anything to do with anyone, it's interesting to see if the country still holds up to what they said

I believe our nation should be neutral with everyone and stop trying to be the world's peacekeeper.

America can become isolationist like it was before the 1900s, we often have involvement in international matters when a lot of issues at home still need to addressed.

i thibk it's possible for us to remain in a neutral state. we don't have to be in conflict with anyone, just be neutral.

it is possible Sweden did it in ww2, a country would do that to stay out of the war
