The worst nuclear disaster BY FAR was Chernobyl, and this was indeed a tragedy, but this was also the result of many levels of stupidity and irresponsibility. The true death toll of these accidents is difficult to estimate because many of the deaths happen years after the incident and are difficult to link to the actual accidents. I fully relate to people being afraid of nuclear energy, but we need to start transitioning to more clean energy alternatives. There is risk in every decision, but the worst thing we can do is continue the status quo. Look at this list of disasters on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nuclear_and_radiation_accidents_by_death_toll. Yes you might think that even one death is too many, but you might also find that the numbers are not nearly as high as you would have otherwise thought. Here is also a graph comparing the number of deaths from different forms of energy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_accidents#/media/File:Hypothetical_number_of_deaths_from_energy_production,_OWID.svg
