I would tell them that any action is good even if it is small people response to seeing change if one person does it than another might and another and another

Sure, there's a high chance that your stance may be drowned out by other opinions, but at least you have contributed to something that you're passionate about nonetheless. At least you're doing something about something rather than doing nothing because of how "insignificant" it feels. Even Van Gogh said "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together".
