Religion is separate from political and federal rulings. At the end of the day, your religious and moral beliefs are your own opinion and forcing it onto others is against their constitutional rights. Even other groups of Christians have varying beliefs on abortion and there are texts regarding how to have an abortion/miscarriage. Pro-Choice. It's your choice to not want to have an abortion and not want others to have an abortion but it's someone else's choice to support abortion and want to have one themselves.

If a woman does become pregnant then it should be up to her to choose what to do because if she is pregnant then the child isn't formed yet it's just a bunch of cells it doesn't have a heartbeat, no brain, no lungs nothing. Not to mention it depends on the situation too like what if a woman was raped and got pregnant she wasn't and isn't ready to have a child. What about financial issues a lot of people can't afford to keep their child or take care of them.

 @9HP6B9Pfrom Washington disagreed…5mos5MO

This is a stance from your religion, not the religion of the world. You can not inflict your religious morals on everyone else, that invalidates the right to religious freedoms.

A child should not be brought into this world unless the parent is ready. So many children suffer needlessly because of this stance, brought into the world either by unprepared parents or shuffled off into a historically abusive foster care and adoption system.
In addition to this, you would protest your rights if the government intervened without your permission and took one of your kidneys to save another persons…  Read more

Abortion is a human right. Simply put if you don't like abortion don't get one. I mightv'e tried to be on birth control, i might've tried using protection but not 100% of the time it works. If you are not in the right place to raise a child mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, that child will grow up with not sucha good life.

 @9HNBTXT from New Jersey disagreed…5mos5MO

We have grown as a society so that we don't need to only have sex to reproduce- if every time someone had sex a child had to be born, our countries would be heavily overpopulated. Plus, separation of church and state, your ideals regarding God and religion should not influence someone else's decision over their own body.

 @Water-pancake  from Colorado disagreed…5mos5MO

In the first part of the argument, religion should play no role. You can use religion for your own morals and that's fine but don't impose it on others is all. The second sentence is also the same, not everyone views sex the same way as this argument and that's fine. Some people have a much more liberal view of it as just something they enjoy with their lover or whatnot. There is nothing wrong with that, sex doesn't hold the same sacred value for others and that opinion doesn't make them any less moral.

For the second part of the argument, there is no reason to rest…  Read more

A person is going to get an abortion weather or not it is safe to do so or not. There should always be places where a person can go to get this done safely. If there were not hospitals people would be forced to heal themselves through potentially dangerous ways. But because there are hospitals people have the chance to go to someone who knows what they are doing and can assist them properly, without many of the potential dangers. It is the same concept with abortion. Plus there a limits to when and how tan abortion can be done. Therefore it should be up to the person to decide if they would like to go through with an abortion or not.

 @9HNVW6Y from California disagreed…5mos5MO

No one should be shamed for having intercourse, yes it is a choice, but to be a mother is as well. Intercourse is not the only reason people get pregnant, it could happen due to rape, etc.

 @9HNQLPX from West Virginia disagreed…5mos5MO

To begin my counter argument, your position relies entirely on your religious views on life, which are not universal to every person's belief system. Second of all, not everyone who has a kid growing within them chose to be impregnated, in cases such as rape for example, or otherwise cannot carry a child to term without risk of death.

 @9HNBLSJ from California disagreed…5mos5MO

While hookup culture seems to be big, there are children out there who have been raped, sexually abused, and in return, have to bare the child of the man who took away their innocence and left a traumatic scar on them. This is why it is important that women have the right to choose what to do with their body. A ten year old girl can't carry a child when she is still one herself. She should not have to suffer and therefore, she has all the rights to an abortion. Children should not be having children.

 @9HNBTLY from Florida disagreed…5mos5MO

It should be the right of a woman to decide what to do with her body. What if she is raped and not ready to have a baby? What if having the baby could cost her life? What if she will not be able to care for the child or provide them with necessities and a fulfilling life to lead? These are questions the United States government needs to consider. Obviously it is hard for them though because the court and the entire government is filled mostly with just men who could never be put in these circumstances. I could bet you that the person on the other side writing this is a man as well.

Abortion should be an option to all regardless of ones religious belief, women go through many things some aren't capable of being a mother so at a point abortion becomes an option for those who can't during certain situation.

 @9HP2CBB  from New Jersey disagreed…5mos5MO

Rape is not a choice, yes people who choose to have intercourse, and have the choice of using protection but accidents still happen, people will say this yet shame women who have kids and can't afford to support them, they're labeled as irresponsible and a bad mother. you're contradicting yourself, its their child their money, their body why should you have a say on what they do.

 @9HNHRC3 from Missouri disagreed…5mos5MO

in this nation which allows for everyone to have religious liberty, we cannot allow ourselves to let any single religions principles guide us legally. There are many valid opinions on the matter of whether or not abortion constitutes taking a life, but there is no objective truth nor an overwhelming majority opinion on the matter for at least the earliest stages of pregnancy. Given that lack of consensus, it is entirely unfair to bar someone from making a medical decision about their own bodies on the basis of uncertainty.

 @9HPX538 from New York disagreed…4mos4MO

it should be the womans choice its her body and the baby its born so therefor its life hasn't started

 @9HQ9KCS from Minnesota agreed…4mos4MO

I disagree we shouldn’t be forced into having a child, and not everyone believes in the same things. They may not believe in God and the Bible we should be forced to grow something in OUR bodies

 @9HNXTR5  from Michigan agreed…5mos5MO

I completely agree with this. People need to understand that life is precious and should be protected at all costs. God laid out the rules for us, and we need to follow them.

 @9HMR7L7 from Ohio agreed…5mos5MO

I agree. God created intercourse for the reason listed above. When we decide to go against that and fill our immediate desires, knowing the possible consequences of those actions, does not give a moral reason to end the innocent life. A baby in the womb is just as valuable from the second on conception as it is outside the womb and should not be terminated.

 @9HNBDTF from California agreed…5mos5MO

I believe that God has given people blessings when they conceive a child, and to "eliminate" the baby that you have conceived it is murder. There should be no option but to keep the child, if the cause of you getting pregnant is rape or anything like that than the choice is yours.

 @9HPXP55 from New York disagreed…4mos4MO

America is a secular country. As per the Establishment Clause of the Constitution, our country is to be governed without the influence of religion. As such, ruling in a fashion that is impacted on religion is not Constitutional, and while you are free to practice your religion, not everyone does, and for that reason, you have no right to push specifically your religious beliefs on other people. Abortions, especially for those who have been assaulted, with their health in danger, and such cases especially should have the ability to terminate their pregnancy. However, outside of these reasons,…  Read more

More sex education is needed in middle school to explain the emotional and ethical consequences of promiscuity. Make it a non secular presentation but rather a human condition.

Some people end up getting raped, and things happen beyond their control. If someone is raped, they have to carry arround that traumatic experience with them EVERYWHERE, they can't just ignore it, it's part of their life now. Even if they can give their kid up for adoption, being pregnant and giving birth to the rapists baby itself can be even more traumati. Additionally, the foster care system isn't that good anyway, they might not want to put a child into that. Young kids get raped and can get pregnant, to be a kid and to be pregnant impacts their life so much.

Intercourse is…  Read more

God doesn't exist, and I don't care what your fairy tale book says about intercourse. My rights to get rid of a fetus (not a baby, a fetus) come before your religion.

 @9HNDTLFProgressive from Utah disagreed…5mos5MO

When people bring God into the abortion argument and especially the Bible, it shows me they’ve not read the Bible. They would look up Numbers it demonstrates how to perform an abortion and the circumstances of which to do one.

When you look at it in terms of a medical question with abortion, you’ve gotta also look at it in terms of the right of the person who is pregnant. You have to understand that when it comes down to let’s say a blood transfusion you cannot force someone to give a blood transfusion even if you are the reason, the person needs a blood transfusion. It does not matter whether or not you’re the only person that can give that person a blood transfusion.

Although this may be true, you cannot say that an unformed mass of cells is more deserving of life than the parents. Once the embryo has fully or almost fully developed into a baby, I will agree, it is a life that should not be aborted (unless under some circumstances such as the health of the mother). Before then the embryo is just a mass of cells and cannot be truly considered alive. If you consider a mass of cells to be alive then what about the rest of your cells that make up your body? You constantly have cells that die and new cells that take their place (for example, scabs. When you…  Read more

There is young adults and people that are mature that are not ready to have the kid in their life, which is much better for them physically and mentally to not have the kid. There are other situations where people have gone through abuse and have ended up pregnant that wasn't their choice so its their body if they want to have it or not .

 @9HMZGQWDemocrat from Michigan disagreed…5mos5MO

Please stop forcing your religious judgement on others. Let’s backup and discuss the scientific aspects and data associated with this situation first.

 @9HPD3F5 from New York disagreed…4mos4MO

yes god may have made us for that reason but what about rape or forced into it or being drunk its not always optional or a choice or what if the woman carrying the child might die

 @9HP32GZWomen’s Equality from Utah disagreed…5mos5MO

some people get pregnant and cant take care of the kid or pay the medical bills for it some people still have to give birth to kids they don't want some babies are the resat of rape

 @9HNBGJ5 from Maine disagreed…5mos5MO

I think that “god” has no place in our political decisions because the religion that typically influences our politics is extremely toxic, hypocritical, and abusive. Nobody is “pro-life”, they’re just anti-bodily-autonomy. Impositions on early-pregnancy abortions are only to control women.
