It's quite possible (and easy) to have protected sex and still get pregnant; condoms fail 13% of the time and birth control fails 9% of the time. So chalking it up to irresponsibility is dismissive and ignorant. And aside from that, prioritizing the rights of a glorified tumor over that of a mature human being is very backward logic.

While it may not be the baby's fault that they were conceived, regardless of how or why, it will inevitably affect their childhood and treatment once they are born. If a woman is being forced to have a child, if she is confident in the fact that she would be an unfit mother or is in an unfit situation to give birth to and raise a child, the child's life under this mother's care will be substantially worse than a child who was wanted and loved from the beginning. If the mother chooses to put the child up for adoption, the child is still entered into a corrupt system of foster…  Read more

In America there is not enough education to prevent pregnancy and people glorify children like everyone wants them and every female needs them. Maybe if we could get free birth control or better education on sex then there would be no reason for abortions.

 @9GLBVPZRepublican from Missouri disagreed…6mos6MO

Not everyone has the resources needed to prevent an unwanted pregnancy and as well as this accidents just happen sometimes. How good is the life of that unwanted child really going to be? Plenty of people neglect and mistreat children that they didn't want and the foster care system isn't much better. People should not be forced to birth children they don't want.

 @9GLP5KYDemocrat from Virginia disagreed…6mos6MO

A woman should have the right to deem herself fit be a mother or not and should not be criminalized for having an abortion.

 @9GKY2N7Socialist from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

It is not the fault of the victim if they are raped, that is completely the fault of the rapist. If it is a danger to the mother, the choice is still up to the mother because it is their body and their choice whether or not to carry the child. It is not a child until it has grown a certain amount in the womb.

 @9GKJCCLWomen’s Equality from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

I agree but also with the idea of mothers and fathers who cannot support the child. We should have the right to make the decision to abort if we cannot keep the child feed,housed, and healthy.

 @9GL2X9NPeace and Freedom from Illinois disagreed…6mos6MO

A woman has the right to decide if she wants to be a mother or not. It is her body, her choice I have nothing against it.

 @9GKJFXV from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

I agree with this statement to a certain extent. I feel that after a certain time from the 2nd trimester to the 3rd it turns into a baby and should not be able to be aborted.

 @9GPMZK4 from California commented…6mos6MO

Once you're in the 3rd trimester, you've pretty much demonstrated that you are committed to giving birth. You've been through the awful first trimester, bonded with your baby through 2nd and if you've gone 6 months already, you're going the distance. The only reason abortions happen in the 3rd trimester is if something has gone HORRIBLY wrong with the pregnancy. They are to save the mother, end the suffering of a non-viable child or the like. Requiring an abortion in so late is a tragedy, but optional abortions at 3rd trimester aren't a thing. I don't think I've ever heard of a doctor who would even be willing to perform an optional abortion past viability.

 @9GMPFF8 from Ohio disagreed…6mos6MO

You should be in control for your body, the government shouldn’t be able to tell you what you can and can not do with your body.

 @9GN4DCV from New Mexico disagreed…6mos6MO

Pro - choice , If the parent is unfit to take care of a child why have a child. Protection cannot always be reliable. If the victim is a person younger than the age of 18 they might ruin their chances of having a good education and job. Therefore affecting their own life when it could have been helped with a simple procedure.

 @9GLXZYW from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

stand with this tbh
but this is just a personal opinion, and i think that banning abortion would just ban safe abortions. i think they should be banned after the first three months

 @9GKW53R from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

I believe that it should be completely up to the person who is carrying the child to decide if they abort it or not.

 @9GNB7YKProgressive from Ohio disagreed…6mos6MO

Although I do think people should be responsible with protection, sometimes a genuine mistake can happen or the person/people just want to have fun

 @9GKMMMJ from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

Pro-choice, because what if the mother is financially unstable or mentally unstable? They should not have the burden to deal with a child when they know they are unable to take care of one

 @9GKMCWY from Kentucky disagreed…6mos6MO

If the mother doesn't want it and knows it won't give the baby a good and enjoyable life where it can be safe and loved, then she should be able to get an abortion.

 @9GKJM8D from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

not everyone who has sex is irresponsible. some people have protected sex with forms of birth control or condoms and still get pregnant and are not prepared for a child.

 @9GMTZVXDemocrat from Nevada disagreed…6mos6MO

I agree with this statement I don't believe you should have to keep a baby after you were raped or if sexually assaulted

 @9GKMJ6P from Illinois disagreed…6mos6MO

Women should have the right regardless due to the fact they may not be financially stable to have and care for the baby. Their bodies may also not be able to carry to term, resulting in the death of the mother.

 @9GKK35Y from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

There are plenty of different ways for accidental pregnancy to occur. A woman should be allowed to get an abortion regardless of reason since in most cases, they aren't emotionally or financially ready to have one and that is their reason for termination.

 @9GKJGSNRepublican from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

I just feel like we don't know the full background of this person and what got them to where they are today so whether or not they want an abortion is up to them

 @9GKJDQ9 from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

Sometimes it could be an accident and the baby is not born yet nor does he/she feel anything there can be other reasons besides rape or a danger. Its their own bodies so its their choice.

 @9GKJBXZ from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

Pro-choice because sometimes people who do use protection have problems where the condom breaks and they aren't financially ready for a child or even old enough so they shouldn't be punished for an accident. Also it's their body their choice doesn't matter what they do

 @9GNR3P9Progressive from Nebraska disagreed…6mos6MO

if your only reason for wanting abortion to be illegal is to punish the mother for having sex then your reasoning is just dumb but cruel.

 @9GNK8R9from Maine disagreed…6mos6MO

If a woman wants to abort a baby, this is for one or more of the following reasons:

1. She does not wish to parent a child at this stage or at any stage in her life
2. She believes that she is unfit to parent a child whether that be financially or otherwise

Both of these are detrimental to a child's upbringing. Forcing either an unwanted child or a child in a toxic/impoverished household to be born is unfair.

 @9GN6H69 from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

Women should have the right to chose what they do because everyone is in different situations in their life and stages and you should have the choice to what to do with your own body.

 @9GKWSR3 from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

Pro-choice anyone should be able to decide if they want to get an abortion because if that woman was to keep that baby and she is not finatually stable there is no way that child id going to make it far in life. And second if that woman is making that decision on not keeping the baby she is doing it for her self and if it doesn't have a heart beat or anything it is not even concidered living.

 @9GKJHLL from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

I still do not agree with this because of the fact that if the child or adult has the child and they do not have enough money to support their new born then they should be able to have the decision to either keep it or abort it. I feel a teen and any other women should have the choice of having an abortion or not because of many reasons. It all relates back to If a teen girl had gotten raped or maybe did not have enough money to care for the child. Also, many teens' brains are not developed all the way and they might do many things that other teens are not doing, which I then believe they should be able to abort. I believe that it is okay to abort a fetus when it is not fully developed. I think it is kind of scary to abort a fully developed child, but I totally agree with letting the decision be completely up to the mother/family.

 @9GKJ8TS  from Michigan disagreed…6mos6MO

Abortion in the first two trimesters has been proven to not harm the baby since the baby has no ability to think or even feel pain, abortion itself is it’s own punishment it is by no means the “easy way out”, so there’s no sense in pretending like all women are opting for this option

 @9GKJ5HHPeace and Freedom from Ohio disagreed…6mos6MO

Anything could have happened during sex, and that does not make the mother irresponsible. There happened to be an accident to which nothing can be done but to abort, especially if the mother is a young girl. Young girls should ALWAYS have the ability to abort a child they cannot provide for, or have the responsibility for. They are ruining their lives over one mistake and that isn’t fair to them.

 @9GMPY7Y from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

A fetus is not alive. If it requires support from another human being, how can it be alive? Yes, "life" was created but like bruh what??? Not everyone is stable enough to do so. Foster system is ***

 @9GMPK73 from Georgia disagreed…6mos6MO

If a mother knows she is unable to take care her child she should have to have the child because that would be another child cared for terribly.

 @9GKJ9RBProgressive  from Florida disagreed…6mos6MO

A woman and her doctor know best when (or if) an abortion should take place. If the conservatives are so concerned about children, then they should stop trying to defund Head Start (and other programs) that supply food, diapers, formula, and healthcare to disadvantaged children. The pro-life movement is about religion, not ethics.

The idea that allowing 1st trimester abortion will inevitably lead--in small steps--to killing newborn babies is an example of the "slippery slope" fallacy.

 @9GNK8LDfrom Maine disagreed…6mos6MO

pro choice, some people would be too scared to admit they were raped, some people cant afford any kind of protection or birth control
