What's your perspective on the role of government in protecting consumers while promoting free enterprise?

 @9KWR6GZ from Wisconsin answered…2mos2MO

I think minimal interference on the market is best while still have government based safety nets.

 @9KWV22Q from Pennsylvania disagreed…2mos2MO

The government should minimize market interference while insuring that american products are competitive with imported goods.

 @9KWVM5P from Washington disagreed…2mos2MO

without the protections that the government provides then investors will be less likely to invest but businesses are still, in the current market, more inclined to give their dividends to the investors instead of outing the money into R&D and giving the public a better product. I think that the government should be able to force the breakup of monopolies and should implement incentives to re-invest money into R&D or physical capital.

As long as everything is fair there should be no negatives

 @9L399F4 from Kentucky disagreed…2mos2MO

If you had the power to change one government policy to increase personal freedom, what would it be and why?

 @9JN9SWXRepublican from Kansas answered…3mos3MO

Limit the amount of damages someone can receive from a company, when they file a lawsuit, unless intentional negligence is proven.

 @9JNJRX4 from California disagreed…3mos3MO

Many people, when suing a company for damages, hardly get anything equivalent in return based on what had happened to them, whilst the company is barely held accountable for causing the incident in the first place.

How do you believe the concepts of “freedom” and “safety” intersect or conflict in your school environment?

 @9LBTF9T from Oklahoma answered…1mo1MO

Control is the only way to provide safety, where Freedom allows more rights but can cause danger. Because of this, we are trying to find a balance between the two.

Do you think there's ever a justification for the government to limit the internet if it's in the public's interest?

 @9J2SMVBRepublican from Illinois answered…4mos4MO

No. Limiting the internet limits a person's freedom to explore what they want online.

 @9J2T4HV from Kansas answered…4mos4MO

It’s a slippery slope honestly. Though it could be justified in terms of national security, our routines, sources, and creative expression as a society could be in jeopardized.

How do you define freedom in your day-to-day life, and what role do you think the government should play in it?

 @9HK5RKCIndependent from Wisconsin answered…5mos5MO

I think that America is very free as opposed to other countries. I would say that the government has played a significant role in everyone's lives here in America. The government continues to allow us to have freedoms that we practice every day.

 @9HK6LMQ from California answered…5mos5MO

Have the freedom to do what you want day to day life without the government messing with you unless you do something you don’t have to do

How might the principle of 'less government' influence your choice in a career or entrepreneurial venture?

The political and social theory known as neo-libertarianism combines "the libertarian's moral commitment to negative liberty with a procedure that selects principles for restricting liberty on the basis of a unanimous agreement in which everyone's particular interests receive a fair hearing."

laissez-faire capitalism does not produce the best-structured outcome.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…4mos4MO

In fact, it eventually becomes extremely damaging. It’s good for making money, nothing else.

 @RebelScum76Constitution from Washington disagreed…4mos4MO

Time to introduce you to the concept of "Economic Calculation." When two people trade money, goods, services, etc, each gives up something he wants less for something he wants more. If someone paid 50 cents for a fountain pen, one party would be rid of something he didn't want and would have fifty cents he did want, and the other would be rid of 50 cents he wanted less than his new pen, which he now has. Both sides benefit. Society moves the slightest degree forward. In like manner both sides benefit from almost every transaction that takes place, otherwise they would instantly…  Read more
