When making a purchase, how do you weigh personal benefit against the ethical reputation of a company?

 @9LFWTMT from Utah answered…1mo1MO

Depends on how bad the reputation may be, if it is just horrible I will avoid the business. If it isn't too bad I will ignore it.

 @9LKBLLF from Texas agreed…4wks4W

We all balance multiple priorities and there is a limit to the amount of attention we can practicably devote to any one issue.

 @9LFWHD5 from Illinois answered…1mo1MO

When making a purchase I don't weigh personal benefit against ethical reputation of a company.

 @9LFX3HX from Minnesota answered…1mo1MO

I really only think about myself, not corporate greed. Although I do like smaller companies.

What is your biggest concern about how money influences politics and what could be done to address it?

 @anniem from Idaho answered…2mos2MO

I think money has a negative effect on politics, but I'm not sure how to fix it

 @9KSQD39 from Missouri agreed…2mos2MO

Corporations that do the bidding of politicians are more likely to get government contracts. This gives them incentives to push certain agendas and restrict free speech on the government’s behalf.

 @9KSFK6N from California answered…2mos2MO

I am most concerned with how our politicians are so easily influenced by financial gain. I think creating policies prohibiting bribes and other forms coercion.

 @9KSN6LHRepublican from New York disagreed…2mos2MO

Objective moral values and duties, which have given framework to the Judeo-Christian society we benefit from, are derived from these teachings, therefore to raise moral children they should understand these principles

In what way has social media exposure to global issues affected your thinking about responsible consumerism?

 @9KSJ7ZM from Texas answered…2mos2MO

It has a hypnotizing affect on individuals, it's like a sensory overload bomb went off right in your face. confuses people's thoughts.

 @9KSJ4YR from Texas answered…2mos2MO

It has made me more aware of plastic waste and other issues that affect our earth negatively.

 @9KSJ3NC from Texas answered…2mos2MO

That politicians and other leaders want to ban social media because it gives us real information while the news gives mostly false information

How do you feel when you see a local mom-and-pop shop competing with big corporations?

 @9L5CBHD from Pennsylvania answered…1mo1MO

When I see a local mom-and-pop-shop, I would rather purchase items from there rather than a big corporation who has the money to easily pay their employers, merchandise, food, and bills. Local mom-and-pop-shops do not get as much exposure as big corporations nor do they get as much money as them. The local shops usually only have their shop as their only income to support themselves and their families.

Can a company's reputation for social responsibility influence your purchasing decisions, and why or why not?

 @9KFWZWC from Minnesota answered…2mos2MO

No. If I like the product I will buy it. The only thing that could influence me is the product posing a risk to my privacy

 @9KHQFDC from Mississippi disagreed…2mos2MO

If their company's reputation is bad I will take my money somewhere else that has a good reputation.

 @9KFY974 from Arizona answered…2mos2MO

How do you navigate the desire for cheaper goods with concerns about the conditions in which they are produced?

 @9LDXZVN from Delaware answered…1mo1MO

they should be produced in a way that should be safe to eat

 @9LFNTP4 from Wisconsin agreed…1mo1MO

It is extremely unethical to sell a product knowing it is potentially dangerous. Companies need to be held liable for endangering its customers. They should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law when selling knowingly harmful goods. The FDA recalls hundreds of millions of food units every quarter. This was resources wasted that could have been used to produce more safe food.

 @9LDY9K2Progressive from North Carolina answered…1mo1MO

Make most good for sell be localy grown or porduced. This will decrease copetition for large corpration, and result in a decrease in price of good, and keep the qualtiy good. Goods that must be manufactured can continue to be so aslong as they can be localy manufactured and that can't will be imported form a place that is producing good quality products.

To what extent do you believe your voice or vote impacts economic decisions that affect your everyday life?

 @9HTQRSGanswered…4mos4MO

I believe I have a voice and it impacts economy decisions if i need to speak up about something important to me.

 @9HWQTMT from Missouri disagreed…4mos4MO

I have a voice, but other people's voices are magnified by huge piles of money. So my voice alone does not have a demonstrable impact on the economy or economic policy.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…4mos4MO

Which is why we must remove the greater voices of those with the money. Those that are qualified and voted for by the people should hold the permitted power of the people. It should be able to be taken away at the merest whim of the people if they show themselves to be horrible.

 @9HTQHML from Minnesota answered…4mos4MO

I don’t think it affects me because I don’t publicly state what I vote for.

 @9HTQKLB from Ohio answered…4mos4MO

Very little, there’s always a process that stops it from making an impact.

 @9HWHR36 from California agreed…4mos4MO

While you can argue that every point counts, when there's hundreds of millions so called points, it's difficult to feel like one or two matters.

In what ways do you believe your personal freedom would be affected in a system where capitalism is overseen by democratic principles?

 @9HDDNDX from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

I feel like my freedom would be restricted in someway or another. I feel that the democratic principles would start to lean more more to a socialism way of life and I don't like that idea at all you work for your money and the why you live you aint free loading off of me.

 @9HDDNK3 from Michigan answered…5mos5MO
