Rather than a blanket ban we should consider the availability of alternatives to current methods of production and the impact that this would have on consumers and marginalized groups. This was an issue with the push to get rid of plastic straws as disabled people , for whom straws were a necessary accessibility aid, were adversely affected as alternatives did not provide the same functionality.
