Yes, because it will encourage people to get an ID which they need to access many government benefits including programs like welfare (or, one day, a UBI program?) and it will help prevent voter fraud. but there should be financial support programs for those who cannot afford the cost of acquiring an ID (based on income or housing status, etc...) and there should be programs in place to help people from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds get their IDs in a faster and more efficient way especially as election day nears (maybe the staff heightens during that time of the year? / they expand their resources to help more people at a time get an ID?, etc...)
