Testosterone, deep voice, hair growth, and masculine facial development are often irreversible without surgery. Estrogen, Breast growth and feminine facial development are often irreversible without surgery. Surgery comes in three forms Face chest and genitals usually. Traditionally chest surgery is most important for transmasculine individuals, and genital and face surgery are most important for transfeminine individuals. The only truly absolutely irreversible thing is testosterone lowering a voice, the ability to use a deep voice never goes away (you often cannot tell, because voice training exists). If you are over 18 you have the option to pursue transition through informed consent without a therapists approval, though only a few doctors will perform such treatment. Under 18 you need two letters, one signed by a psychiatric doctor, and one signed by a pediatrician stating that transition is the correct treatment. This comes with at least 3 months of therapy prerequisite. The usual age for puberty blockers is start of puberty, so this varies. The usual age for hormone therapy is 16, sometimes 14 depending on the location and certainty of the kid. The usual age for surgery is 18, sometimes 16 depending on location.
