Ideally, quality sex education would mitigate a significant number of unwanted pregnancies. Of those that still occur, abortion should be an option in early stage pregnancy, but late term should be avoided due to similar clinical complications as childbirth; No true value is added by their availability. Repeat recipients of abortion services should require a mandatory consult with a social services representative to assure the recipient is receiving and or knows about quality contraception; the purpose of this requirement is not to punish repeat recipients-- it is identify women in abusive situations that are not able to effectively exercise control over their reproductive health, and assist them in claiming it.
