Environmentally friendly solutions have been shown to be more economically friendly in the long-term than regular emission-producing options due to the rising gas prices and short term lives of traditional engines.

Electric buses cost significantly more than their diesel counterparts. The infrastructure for charging these vehicles is also not as developed, potentially leading to further costs.

However, envirnomental problems have been going on too long and have reached dangerous levels, The United States can not afford to make long-term changes as they do not have the time to execute such.

Public transportation can help the environment by decreasing the need for things that hurt the planet, such as large roads, parking lots, and low-capacity vehicles like cars.

One of the main draws of public transit is lower emissions, so making it as environmentally friendly as possible is the best way to do this.

 @9FGP9Q5 from Texas commented…7mos7MO

All public transit is environmentally friendly, in comparison to individual automobiles. One bus can take ten cars off the road and reduce emissions, even if the bus isn't particularly efficient.

Public transportation is overall and eco-friendly alternative to personal automobile traffic. We need to keep that in mind if we decide to increase the range and accessability of public transportation. In other words, we shouldn't make it just as harmful as personal automobiles are to atmospheric carbon levels.

The current subway transit system in New York contributes to the total greenhouse gas emissions that are present in the world today. The air pollutants released are incredibly damaging for the world and negatively contribute to the state of climate change as seen today. Spending money towards environmentally friendly solutions will continue our attempts to be sustainable and clean.

It's a known fact that buses are a more eco-friendly alternative to cars, but there's still one major issue. Though buses are reducing the carbon footprint (in fact they are 550% more efficient as of a study comprised by metro-magazine.) That number could be lowered via the transition from fuel based buses to hybrids and/or fully electric buses. This transition could seem like a hefty investment at the base, but the return on it could not only pay back to the environment, but also create new jobs & lead to more training for EV engineering.

Public transportation isn't widely used by all, but is extremely beneficial to those who utilize it. However, increasing funding on public transportation can unintentionally increase pollution as there are more larger vehicles on the road.

 @PATdirk  from Texas agreed…6mos6MO

If less people are driving then it would hardly have an environmental effect if public transportation had the same amount of carbon emissions.

 @9GG4HLT from Texas agreed…6mos6MO

At this moment in time, we have the option of moving forward or backwards with a push towards public transit. We only have one planet, it will be here without us either way, but I’d prefer we stay on it for many generations to come.

Global issues are widespread and extremely important. We should not promote them; only act against them.

 @9FWRMB5 from Utah agreed…7mos7MO

Investing in public transportation especially towards environmentally friendly solutions is essential to combat climate change.

If there is a demand for a good or service, a private enterprise will develop to fulfill that need. The governments involvement using citizen tax dollars is not required.
