Foreigners should not have the right to vote in US elections. They must have US citizenship. They are welcome to live here, but if they want a say in how things are run, they must commit to our country by having citizenship. Not having US citizenship will create a conflict of interest when voting.

 @9FLX9TQ from Georgia disagreed…6mos6MO

No one should be allowled to vote unless they are a US citizen, it should not be changed or allowled to those whoa are living in this country that are not citizens.

 @9G9YPQQ from Ohio disagreed…5mos5MO

If you are not a US citizen, you should not have the right to vote. All foreigners should apply to get citizenship and take the class to become fully educated about our government.

 @9GLSPWF from Illinois disagreed…5mos5MO

I believe that a person should only be able to vote if they have a U.S. citizenship, regardless of how long they live in the U.S. If you wish to make decisions for the citizens, then you must be a legalized citizen.

 @9GHQPQJIndependentdisagreed…5mos5MO

Voting should be a right reserved for citizens only. If a foreigner wants to vote, they need to undergo the naturalization process.

 @9GB6KDMRepublican from Georgia disagreed…5mos5MO

The only requirement for people to be able to vote should be citizenship and that should be guaranteed ability after living in the US after 10 years

 @9GT6SVW from Colorado disagreed…5mos5MO

I think that Foreigners should go through naturalization and/or becoming a citizen before voting since they are still not a citizen of the US. Non citizens of the US should not contribute to our election if they are inside or outside of the US.

 @9GFNV99 from Illinois disagreed…5mos5MO

I doesn’t matter how long they’ve lived here, if they aren’t US citizens they don’t have a right to vote as one.

 @9GGJG8Q from Illinois disagreed…5mos5MO

United States citizenship should mean something, and carry privileges. To paraphrase Pixar "when everybody is a citizen, then nobody will be." An individual who has lived in the US legally for 10 years on good behavior should, generally, be eligible to apply for and receive citizenship, but it is important for American citizens to ensure that such individual has undivided loyalty to the United States and its people. Otherwise, we risk surrendering American interests to the worlds' even more than we already have.

 @9GF8FCBRepublican from Florida disagreed…5mos5MO

I believe that it doesnt matter how long they have lived here, they should go through the citizenship process the correct and legal way just like everyone else for the safety of themselves and everyone else around them. So that the Americans can know that the government is carrying out their job to protect their citizens.

 @9GG95CB from Virginia disagreed…5mos5MO

 @9GT2LD4 from Virginia disagreed…5mos5MO

Any one who is not a citizen should not have the right to vote. If someone has been living in the country for 10 years or more and has chosen not to become a citizen has also chosen not to have the right to vote. No other country in the world allows non-citizens to vote.

 @9G797TH from Illinois disagreed…6mos6MO

If they have citizenship they can vote. Doesn't matter if they're immigrants, once citizenship is obtained they can vote. However, if they only have a green card or no citizenship, they can't vote.

 @9GHDXNH from Illinois disagreed…5mos5MO

If they haven't been willing to become a citizen or at least a dual citizen why should they be able to vote? They've shown that they don't care that much about our country yet still want to take advantage by staying here.

 @9G7K2CX from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

I believe that people only born in the country who are legal should be able to vote. If a person isn't from this country and isn't a legal citizen then they should not have the right to vote. The same would apply say for example if we had americans voting for the mexican president.

 @9GCHS6DProgressive from Tennessee disagreed…5mos5MO

The right to vote is strictly that of a citizen's. It is a great shame that one can live in the country for 10 years and not have access to naturalization, but that is a different problem, and it should not be resolved by increasing the power of non citizens.

 @9GMFND4 from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

Foreigners should not vote unless they have gone through the process of getting citizenship. Also, it is unfair to let people who didn't go through the process get a free ride when there are some foreigners who did go through the process because they wanted to become US citizens.

 @9GCYHPB from Florida disagreed…5mos5MO

If they have citizenship, they should be able to vote but if they don't then they shouldn't be able to

 @9GD8HK3Republican from Massachusetts disagreed…5mos5MO

While I understand these people might live here now or poses a problem with security, as enemies of the States could send people over to corrupt our voting system. Even more importantly voting is a right to those with citizenship and should not be extended to anyone who isn’t a citizen. Having the right to vote without citizenship harms the idea of citizenship in general. Many could come and reap the benefits of living and working in America without swearing there loyalty to our countries well being.

 @9G663H5 from Iowa disagreed…6mos6MO

If you are not a citizen you should not have the right to vote. You must have a vested interest in the positive future of the country.

 @9GG39Y8Republican from Georgia disagreed…5mos5MO

If you are not a legal immigrant and are not currently paying taxes you should not have the right to vote to help decide how this country is led

 @9GBLWGL from Ohio disagreed…5mos5MO

If foreigners acquire citizenship before remaining in the country for 10 years then there is no reason they should not be able to vote.

 @9FY483L from Indiana disagreed…6mos6MO

A foreign person without citizenship will have biased incentives on issues such as taxation for purposes of benefitting the general public comprised of permanent citizens. The voting public should be comprised permanent residents of the USA with citizenship.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…6mos6MO

To be fair, many Americans (largely on the right) are the most avid advocates against any kind of public funding or taxation, so immigrants are the least of our concerns here, especially considering every other nation does the entire taxation/public funding thing so much better than us.

 @9GFCZGY from New Hampshire disagreed…5mos5MO

unless they are citizens of this country they have no right to vote, you dont live in somones house then after 10 years get to share the ownership of the house

 @9GJRFL2 from Arizona disagreed…5mos5MO

Foreigners, even if living here ten years, are not US citizens. There is not right to vote and should not change. You are either born here or change your citizenship so you can vote. Having foreigners hiding out in the US for years, does not give them the right to pick who represents them.

 @9FN8FPB from Iowa disagreed…6mos6MO

If you are over 18 and a legal citizen, it shouldn't matter how long you have lived here. All voters should educate themselves on the issues and decide how they are going to vote from there. People need to get away from I'm voting 'democrat' or 'republican' because that is my party. Both sides have good points and bad. Very few people actually agree with a politician 100%.

 @9GW8J2SRepublican from Virginia disagreed…5mos5MO

The freedom to vote in our elections and be a part of our democracy is embellished within citizenship status. Becoming a US Citizen is to become an american, and americans will come together to vote in agreement or disagreement. To give the power to vote to foreigners and non citizens is to completely void US citizenship of almost any purpose, and effectively turn America from a unified country into a large mass of land with a group of people living on it.

 @9FMZFX8Republican from California disagreed…6mos6MO

it does not matter wether they have been living here for 10 years or more.They have been in the U.S for 10 years “Illegally” ,it is still required that they need a citizenship.

 @9FPPWT8Republican from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

It doesn't matter how long an individual lives within the U.S., if they do not gain legal citizenship then they should not be allowed to vote.

 @9GWF4NS from Wyoming disagreed…5mos5MO

If they are not citizens of the United States, they have none of the rights a citizen of the United States is entitled to. Period.

 @9G3G8KF from Massachusetts disagreed…6mos6MO

Ten years makes no difference between a foreigner who has not properly gained citizenship. If you are not a citizen, you have no right to vote. Period.

 @9FX8BSH from Iowa disagreed…6mos6MO

I think if someone has put in the work and learned the ways of the U.S.A. then they should be granted citizenship after 10 years.

 @9FM4SWK from California disagreed…6mos6MO

i think that only citizens should be allowed to vote because when you open that right up to to others, it loses importance.

 @9GR4KPG from Washington disagreed…5mos5MO

Although they might have lived here for 10 years if there still not a legal citizen they should not be able to vote.

 @9GC94GG from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

I think we still shouldn't let them vote. even if they live here for 10 years their ways could still not change.

 @9FLTSXW from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

There is no discernable way to tell if someone has lived in the country for ten or more years, and that does not instantly grant somebody residency

 @9FLT75G from Washington disagreed…6mos6MO

No! if you already been here for 10 years, get your citizenship and begin the process to become a citizen. You shouldnt vote if your not a citizen.

 @9FM4KBG from Ohio disagreed…6mos6MO

I think that anyone that is a LEGITIMATE citizen should absolutely have the right to vote. You need to go through the steps it takes to become a legal US citizen to participate is voting.

 @9FLWTVQRepublican from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

i think that if they are a legal american citizen and go through the process to become a american citizen they should have the right to vote

 @9G325LR from Washington disagreed…6mos6MO

They shouldn't be aloud to vote because in the constitution it says you must be a U.S. citizen and you must be 18 years of age.

 @9GW5FFKRepublican from South Carolina disagreed…5mos5MO

Only citizens who took the time to go through the tedious but still necessary process of gaining citizenship should be allowed to vote. If we allow anyone to vote we are allowing people who are undocumented who don't pay taxes and who could potentially have harmful views to affect our country.

 @9FZV57ZIndependent from Massachusetts disagreed…6mos6MO

Foreign citizens should never have the right to vote. Even after foreigners have not pledged their loyalty to serve the US if asked. They also haven't served their fellow citizens on a jury.

 @9FMLYDY from Alabama disagreed…6mos6MO

Foreigners would be in the country for 2 terms of a pres. and half of the next term till they might understand the system after 8 years so the extra 2 years is unneeded

 @9FLX3PZ from Washington disagreed…6mos6MO

there is no definitive way to determine if someone has been legally living in the country for 10 years. if they are here legally, they shou.d be able to vote as soon as they are legalized.

 @9FMQ6H3disagreed…6mos6MO

You could live here for that amount of time and legally still not be a U.S citizen. Only people who are documented as U.S citizens should be allowed to vote

 @9G66TP7Republican from Pennsylvania disagreed…6mos6MO

No, if you are not a citizen of the United States, you should not be allowed to vote regardless of how long you've been here.

 @9G5JCTX from California disagreed…6mos6MO

10 years is too long, at that point they would have already most likely finished all citizenship processes and integrated into American society.

 @9GD5RMX from Virginia disagreed…5mos5MO

If a person is going to live here for 10 years or more, then they might as well become a citizen because they probably aren't leaving. The citizenship process doesn't require you to live here that long. I also do not believe that any person on this Earth should be denied the opportunity of citizenship to this great country as long as they do it correctly.

 @9GH64V6 from Tennessee disagreed…5mos5MO

If they are not citizens, they should not have the right to vote. If they are citizens they should have the same rights as everyone else.
