Non-citizens should not be able to have an effect on American elections, despite their political affiliation.

 @9FQLH8PRepublican  from California disagreed…6mos6MO

Paying tax shouldn't be the only requirement for vote. Foreigners pay tax so they can receive government services such as child education, etc. But if they are not U.S. citizens, they should not be allowed to vote.

 @9FQNRW2Peace and Freedom from Utah agreed…6mos6MO

I agree. If they are't granted citizenship of this country, they should not be allowed to vote in the future of this country

 @9FS5W8C from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

The right to vote is reserved for US citizens and if a foreigner is not taking the steps to become a citizen, then why should they be allowed to pick our leaders/ representatives.

 @9FRMMLCIndependent from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

If they are LEGAL US citizens, then yes, they should have the right to vote. If they are not a citizen, then absolutely not.

 @9FQFVRMIndependent from Tennessee disagreed…6mos6MO

Only citizens should have the right to vote; taxes are like the rent people pay to stay in the country such and keep all of the things that make our country so great running. If they have a visa or are in a path to citizenship, with ID and documentation, I think they could vote in local elections.

 @9FP593V from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

No illegal immigrant should be allowed to vote, they should have to be a registered citizen like every other person in this country. Taxes aren't enough because they don't get taxed as much as we citizens do.

 @9FP9PT6Libertarian from Pennsylvania disagreed…6mos6MO

The right to vote is guaranteed for citizens according to our constitution. Foreigners are not citizens. If they have not taken the steps to become citizens they clearly do not care about electing officials enough to go through the process.

 @9FMLYDY from Alabama disagreed…6mos6MO

because taxes is a broad term that can mean that if someone buys from the store they would be able to vote as long as they are of age meaning someone can show up and have no idea of how our politics work and vote for who they think will do a better job.

 @9FL6LP3Women’s Equality from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

They should be citizens of the US in order to vote, passing an entrance exam showing they are committed to our country and culture. Just paying taxes is not enough, you will be opening up a can of worms for immigrants to come into the US where we do not have the infrastructure to support them nor the means. It is a slippy slope.

 @9FQ9BDM from Wisconsin disagreed…6mos6MO

If they were not admitted to this country, legally, nor have they gone through the proper legal process, then they are by legal definition illegal immigrants, and therefore should not be granted the rights of an American citizen.

 @9FLLS6R from Colorado disagreed…6mos6MO

illeagl immagrents are ILLEAGL and there four shoul dnot have the rights that legal american citizens have

 @9FLL5GSIndependent from Arkansas disagreed…6mos6MO

Anyone that pays taxes to a government to support that said government should be able to have the chance to pick who they are supporting

 @9FRY3L2disagreed…6mos6MO

If citizenship wasn't required for people to vote, then a country could dump a huge chunk of people somewhere to vote in an election to force a result they wanted

 @9GR27CG from Pennsylvania disagreed…5mos5MO

Yes, they have to pay taxes because they are living here and using our resources to reside in this country. If they want to vote, they should become a legal US citizen so that we know they are probably not just going through the steps to mess with the numbers.

 @9FTC9X5 from Kentucky disagreed…6mos6MO

Anyone who is on American soil still uses public facilities and benefits, but if they do not have citizenship then they should not vote because they don't care enough to get citizenship and are less tied to the country

 @9GR4KPG from Washington disagreed…5mos5MO

I believe that even though you may pay taxes you must be a legal citizen of the US to vote. You shoul dbe required to show your ID also.

 @9GQTDBMRepublican from North Carolina disagreed…5mos5MO

Foreigners have less of an idea about the countries politics as well as potentially being a risk to national security.

 @9GJJ8W5 from California disagreed…5mos5MO

No, although they pay taxes it doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to make the correct decisions like others.

 @9GQKXPL from New York disagreed…5mos5MO

thats not ridiculous to say. but some people dont have a job but should also have the right to vote. they are still citizens. anywho bleach solos.

 @99VP3W7 from Minnesota agreed…1yr1Y

Paying taxes implies you are supporting your community and government. Our taxes fund government who makes policy procedure and makes sure the city functions as a great city. that encompasses being a great place to live and work where our schools and community thrive. we get out what we put in we dont fund our city thru a tax based system we have dirt roads no schools and no bridges and hospitals. last time i checked private hospitals was funded by some one who at some point went to the city to get something to build open operate a clinic hospital where insurance would be used as payment agree or disagree we get out our city what we put in it

 @9FP3885Republican from Arizona disagreed…6mos6MO

It depends if they got into this country illegally because it could be a foreign enemy messing up elections.
