In the vision of all people of America being born equal, it is unjust to give women a different pay rate than a man for doing the same job as him. Having different pay rates for men and women is a form of gender discrimination.

 @9F7Z7JD  from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

Even today, women aren't given the same pay rate as men. No matter what gender you are, everyone should have equal pay and gender bias should not be considered when it is related to a person's money making.

 @9FDZYWYLibertarian from New York agreed…7mos7MO

I agree. Just because a female is working at like, construction or something, doesn't mean that they aren't doing the same thing as the man. They are, and sometimes they do it better for worse pay.

 @SolidPretzelsfrom Washington disagreed…7mos7MO

Well, my sister actually works in construction. She's been in the industry longer than some of her male colleagues and yet she gets paid less. From her experience, it's not just about the work done but also about how society values certain jobs more when they are performed by men. It's a complex issue that needs addressing. However, some argue that there should be more consideration given to skills, experience, and qualifications when setting pay, rather than strictly gender. What do you think about this perspective? Could there be a middle ground to ensure fairness in pay across genders while still acknowledging individual merits?

 @9F8736TSocialist  from California disagreed…7mos7MO

The vast majority of statistics show that women are consistently paid less for the same jobs men occupy the restrictions must be strengthened.

 @9FF27KY from Kansas agreed…7mos7MO

Both women and men are working the same amount of hours and are putting the same amount of work in. The pay needs to be equal if both are doing the same.

 @9F7WLZX from Nebraska disagreed…7mos7MO

Women and Men should be payed the same amount due to having the same job. If they’re doing equal work why should one be payed more?

 @9F7SN5M from Arizona disagreed…7mos7MO

Gender and race should not be factored into the amount someone is payed, society underpays immigrants for highly difficult jobs and say we are being fair.

 @9F6WHVFDemocrat from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

Equal Pay is still not being enforced due to women still being paid less than men even though they're the same job.

 @9F7W5WS from Massachusetts disagreed…7mos7MO

I think that if two people are doing the same job, they should earn the same pay. It wouldn't be fair if it was two men doing the exact same job, and one of them got paid more then the other, so why is it any different if its a woman and a man?

 @9FFBLKXdisagreed…7mos7MO

Men and Women should be paid the same if working the same job. They do the same thing and it shouldnt matter the gender of the person.

 @9F88SMW from California disagreed…7mos7MO

It shouldn't matter what gender you are everyone should get an equal amount of pay, It also doesn't matter what kind of job it is either.

 @9F7NW3Z from Georgia disagreed…7mos7MO

i think its unfair ,men and women should be payed the same down to the cent if they are doing the same job and putting forth the same energy.

 @9F84T9JWomen’s Equality from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

Woman and men should be equal on all bases, not just for pay, especially when both parties are just as equally qualified for the same position.

 @9F8D57ZLibertarian from New York disagreed…7mos7MO

Absolutely, being paid equally for the same work is a fundamental principle of fairness. However, it's important to note that the gender pay gap isn't just about unequal pay for the same job. It's a complex issue rooted in societal norms, career choices, and even maternity leave policies.

 @9F82RDC from California disagreed…7mos7MO

There is still some discrimination between men and women in the workforce and I think that in all jobs regardless of gender you should get paid the same as someone else unless they worked for a raise.

 @9F7PBZ4 from Missouri disagreed…7mos7MO

We should use common sense and pay men, women, and everything else in between an equal amount that's equal to the position they're in.

 @9FG3PPXWomen’s Equality from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

I think women should be paid like man, the government should be equal. I also think immigrants should also have opportunities, since the U.S is considered a country of opportunities.

 @9FFZK79 from Florida disagreed…7mos7MO

Women are still continuing to be discriminated against and are not given higher position jobs due to their gender, the problem isn't solved and hasn't been for a while. People like to believe it has been and then go back to the same ways as before, more change needs to be made.

 @9F7RC8Q from Massachusetts disagreed…7mos7MO

Why should men be payed more than women? There is no reason, as women we can do the exact same job, if not better. There are countless women who work harder than men, doing the same job, all while they are pregnant. It is 2023, men and women should be equals.

 @9F7NQQMDemocratdisagreed…7mos7MO

Women are still underpaid and women who work the same jobs as men often do not receive the same salary.

 @9F84GTV from Alabama disagreed…7mos7MO

women and men should get payed the same for doing the same job and the pink tax shouldn't be a thing

 @9F85GCC from California disagreed…7mos7MO

As a whole we should never settle for sufficient, we want the best possible option to equality. We do not want something that is just good enough.

 @9F8DYTG from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

If a man and a woman are doing the same work and have the same job, there is no reason that the woman should be paid less.

 @9F8BVQ3 from Washington disagreed…7mos7MO

Women are still paid less, as they are still classified as not as smart and dominant in their career as men are. While the act is in position, it has not sufficiently given women the same opportunity as men, due to it being built on biased opinions.

 @9F83X8C from Georgia disagreed…7mos7MO

Yes, there should be equal pay for everyone. Everyone has different views on things and those should be heard. everyone is just as capable of getting a job and doing well on it as others. Equality provides the chance for people to have the same opportunities and success.

 @9F7F2L6 from California disagreed…7mos7MO

It is statistically shown that women are paid significantly less than women, while harboring the same duties men do.

 @9F86Y4D from California disagreed…7mos7MO

Gender nor race shouldn't be factored into the salary a person earns. Despite our differences, men and women are perfectly capable of handling the same job at a similar performance. One's pay should only be determined by demand and skill, and one's skill stems from their personality, not gender.

 @9F7SKKW from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

This Act was made all the way back in 1963, with the increase in new businesses and technologies and more education. Women do the same work or even more than men and should be paid the same amount.

 @9F85J97 from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

Women work the same jobs just as hard, if not harder, than men and should be paid at least the same amount for their hard work. Equality and progressive!

 @9F6Z8GNDemocrat from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

No matter when or where men and women should both be making the exact same thing for doing the same job

 @9F722ST from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

Statistically, women are shown to be paid less than men. Not only that, but certain positions have been seen as bias to hiring women.

 @9F76WB5from Maine disagreed…7mos7MO

statistically, women are still payed less every year due to societal pressures to join lower paying careers. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 did not solve this issue, and this must be solved at a society-wide level for gender equality. It also does not address the racial disparities in pay

 @9F7FWD4Progressive from Virginia disagreed…7mos7MO

women still get paid less than men statistically, and are penalized for going on maternity leave with less raises

 @9F7GX2L from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

 @9F6W25P from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

Men and women should be payed the equal amount of income when on the same level, or ranking, of the same job. This would create more equality between genders in the work force, and help the industry prosper in collaboration, instead of dividing it by unnecessary tension and discrimination

 @9F6VCDC from Virginia disagreed…7mos7MO

Yes employers should be required to pay men and women the same salary for the same job. No matter the gender or sex, if it is the same workload, they should be paid the same.

 @9F6XBM5 from Illinois disagreed…7mos7MO

In 2022, women earned an average of 82% of what men earned, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of median hourly earnings of both full- and part-time workers. If the Equal ay Act of 1963 was sufficient, there would no longer be a gender wage gap.

 @9F7DW7S from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

The only reason men get paid more is because they dominate high paying fields and they don't lose time off due to pregnancy.

 @ZealfulHouseGreen from Missouri disagreed…7mos7MO

While it's true that men often dominate high-paying fields, this is more a symptom of systemic issues than a justification. For instance, societal norms and discouragement often deter women from entering and advancing in such fields. As for pregnancy, it's worth noting that parental leave should not be a woman-specific issue. Many countries offer paternity leave, encouraging a more balanced approach to child rearing and career commitments. This can help alleviate the perceived 'loss' due to pregnancy. What do you think about more companies offering paternity leaves or even mandatory shared parental leave to balance this out?

 @9F5TX9C from Oregon disagreed…7mos7MO

Gender should never be a factor in determining what a employee is payed. Both men and woman deserve to be treated and paid equally for their work.

 @9F6VG97 from New York disagreed…7mos7MO

It's not sufficient, everywhere in america no matter the field women and men should be payed equally.

 @9F6NPDZdisagreed…7mos7MO

I think everybody should have the same amount of pay for any job they work, this being because everybody would work just as much. This depends if the person is not doing their job correctly.

 @9F6WWL8Socialist from California disagreed…7mos7MO

A law being made doesnt necessarily mean its enforced and employers often make it taboo to share pay rates with coworkers, women tend to earn less money in the workplace due to less promotion

 @9F83H3X from California disagreed…7mos7MO

The Equal Pay Act still leaves marginalized groups to fight for equal pay. The idea of men and women being given equal opportunity and pay and overall being treated equally, has been heavily disliked throughout history. Therefore it is embedded in how people still think today. This makes it a lot harder to make equal pay for men and women actually equal instead of equal enough.

 @9F6DLPJRepublican from Washington disagreed…7mos7MO

if a woman and a man are doing the same job they should be paid the same wages. this goes for race as well.

 @9F55D7W from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

The Equal Pay Act of 1963 still leaves pay to be ambiguous and leaves marginalized groups fighting for equal compensation to this day.

 @TaxationSid from Illinois disagreed…7mos7MO

While it's true that the Equal Pay Act of 1963 has not fully eradicated pay disparities, it has provided a legal framework for individuals to challenge perceived discrimination. For instance, Lilly Ledbetter's case against Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company led to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, further strengthening the provisions of the Equal Pay Act. Despite this, pay ambiguity remains due to other factors like negotiation skills and career interruptions. Do you think implementing strict pay transparency policies could be a possible solution to this?

 @9F6PVFN from South Carolina disagreed…7mos7MO

Being paid differently from othef co-workers isn't fair and it doesn't matter about the gender ut if you've been there longer than another co-worker than thats different
