No, many of the beliefs of the catholic church are a tad old fashioned and when trying to apply this in the modern world there's always backlash

While the church should have no direct say, a large percentage of Americans are Catholic and their opinions are formed in part by their religious views. This country was founded on Christian principles such as the 10 commandments and moral rules have a place in government, so long as they don’t restrict people’s right to freedom of religion, and the rules are able to be applied broadly.
